About Us
Buckenbah Collective is a hub for local business, community and commerce in Geurie.
Where:
Geurie is in the Central West of New South Wales, 30 minutes east of Dubbo.
Our building is located in between the local petrol station and the pub in Geurie! [Next to the Geurie car-yard!]
We are on the main highway - the Mitchell Highway - with heaps of parking. A bus stop is across the road, and the train station is 100 metres away. You can get a taxi from Dubbo, but it costs about $80.00…
Who: In April 2022 the Foley family sold the historic building known as ‘55 Buckenbah Street, Geurie’ to Buckenbah Collective Pty Ltd. Buckenbah Collective was jointly founded by Eliza Whiteley and Claire Booth.
Claire and Eliza are proud, local Geurie ladies who got talking about their hopes and aspirations for the future of Geurie. Both women were excited when a small piece of real estate on Geurie’s front street, came up for sale - it was so FULL of potential!
Eliza & Claire worked tirelessly from April 2022 until December 2023. There was lots of hard, sweaty work done to transform the building into a modern place for businesses to thrive. Eliza stepped out of the project to create her optometry business, and as Eliza was stepping out, in April 2024, Libby Wilson stepped in. Libby and Claire are the current directors of Buckenbah Collective.
How: We LOVE people who have an idea, and make things happen. We pride ourselves on walking the walk, not just talking the talk….
We really enjoy people who are honest, transparent and take pride in what they do. One of our core values is, the harder one works, the luckier one gets!
Why: Some of us are local farmers. Like many farmers, this project thinks in terms of ‘decades’. If life is good and kind, Claire (& her husband Brendo and family) are likely to be farming in the Geurie region for next 50 years - so it makes sense to Claire & Brendo to invest in the village of Geurie and create opportunities for everyone.
Others of us are seriously proud to be part of Regional Australia. Libby was curious about how investing in small rural and regional areas works and could see there was an opportunity to inspire others to do similar things.
Broadly, we aim to create lasting legacies. We believe anything is possible in the village of Geurie and surrounds - with time and hard work.
